King's in the Community

Community Service

King's Bruton has seen the continuation and expansion of its Community Service programmes. Pupils on the external programme prove excellent ambassadors for the school helping out at Fiveways special school in Yeovil, St Margaret's Hospice, local primary schools, prep schools Hazlegrove and Allhallows, hospitals and residential homes, visiting the elderly in their homes, and working on local conservation projects. Tasks range from helping younger pupils with reading, Art, Science and cookery, chatting and playing games with hospital and residential patients, practical help in the house and garden for the elderly, through to more manual tasks such as digging, ground-clearing and planting on the conservation projects.

On the internal front, King's recycling and ‘Green initiative' team , maintained the King's and Bruton's greenery whilst elsewhere pupils are kept busy designing and maintaining house and subject websites, assisting with sports coaching, library administration and theatre management, and - ever popular - maintaining the health and wellbeing of the school's pooch population.
